Author's Note
Hello there,
Most of you reading will have already read the Disclaimer (hopefully) for the coming story you shall read, to which I thank you. If you have not, please know that you are reading at your own risk.
This story has been a year in the making (well, three since the first idea for it), so there's something incredibly sweet about finally seeing the fruits of my labor. Quinn and Esmerelda are a couple that were a long time in the making (really, really long time) and I hope you fall in love with them much in the same way I did.
Before you begin, I wanted to draw forward a short and sweet helpful image of mine that will be kept on the Extras page. This is the "Timeline" for this story. I won't keep a spoiler version on the Extras page, but I will update it periodically throughout my Author's notes. Right now it's small and mostly empty, but I wanted to give you guys a sort of sense of time progression in my stories. All of my stories function on the same timeline, but I haven't had to use the timeline that much until this story.
The World of Atalan, where this story takes place, functions in "eras." The Goddesses of Time (otherwise known as the Sisters of Time) are responsible for determining the end of an era and the start of a new one as well as the fortune of it. If you'd like to read more on that, you can find it in the World Glossary. This story takes place predominantly in the Era of Prophecies, however it'll jump back to the Era of Havoc for flashbacks regarding one of the characters as well as carry forward into the Age of Bones.
Here's the Timeline picture, for your reference:
With that said, I hope that you all enjoy the story.
Lots of love,
Whenever I read your stuff I always wonder how the hell I hadn't stumbled on any of this before

DeleteThis made my day! Honestly I haven't been writing very seriously until the past two years, and not publishing outside of Carl's until this year, so I suppose I'm pretty new to this game!
I just hope people enjoy the stories as much as I do. I've written for basically my whole life, but only several years ago did I get the guts up to start sharing it!
Still, I really appreciate it! =D
Sounds like a real labor of love. :)
ReplyDeleteA labor of love is a great way to describe it! I wouldn't change a thing about it though. <3
Delete(gasp) This is in the same world as Where the Willow Walks!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I hadn't realized before.
Ahhh this is even better!
Hehe, I was planning to let you in on it before you came over but it seems you beat me to it! My main writing project is the world of Atalan itself, all four of my stories take place there (Where the Willow Walks, Song of the Nightingale, Reapers, and Faction of the Lost Ones). They all focus on different areas of the world, the magic, the pantheon, etc, however you'll see some floating concepts and characters crossing over (especially my Keepers, who seem to have their nose in everything, hehe). Yes but they're all in the same world and can interact, which you may notice is why I keep a strict layout of the timelines somewhere on important chapters. I also have a Wiki I run for the world (though it's definitely a work in progress that I'm slowly making headway on) found here: https://atalan.pancakesandmadmen.com/p/home-page.html
DeleteI hope you enjoy the ride!
Oh wow! The web spreads even further!
DeleteThis is so intricate and deep. I feel like I've hit the jackpot haha
